CFUnited Preview: CFEclipse Plus! Presentation live!

June 21, 2007 ·

I want to thank Ray Camden, Charlie Arehart and all the people at TeraTech that let me do a preview presentation before CFUnited. You can check out the recording of the presentation over at http://experts.acrobat.com/p70538852/

There are so many things necessary to build a development environment. I hope to get together with someone at cfUnited with my laptop and go through a checklist of things.
Download and install eclipse, cfeclipse, cf8, mySQL, SQL Server 2K5 Express, Selenium, ANT, etc.
I don't know how to use ANT, but I think that's how you push code to production, isn't it?

@Phillip: Think of Ant as .bat files on steroids. Its an XML file that you can tell it to do lots of interesting things (ftp, mail, sync, do db connections, checkout code from repositories etc etc etc) Check out some of the core ANT tasks here: http://ant.apache.org/manual/index.html (click on Ant Tasks).

It already comes installed with an editor for the build.xml file (where you define what you want it to do) with Eclipse

Hit me up when you are at CFUnited.

Thanks for doing the presentation Mark, I learned a few things about CFEclipse I didn't know before.

How do I access the Snipex functionality of CFEclipse? Is it public?
  • 6 jax // Sep 22, 2008 at 4:11 PM

ehhm.. Am I missing something when trying to open the presentation ?
It does a bit of loading and then starts 'connecting' .. and nothing ever happens.

Mark, no worries, it turned out to be that pesky proxy we use in the office.
