Its one of these new fangled Adobe Connect rooms, you can join in by going here: http://adobechats.adobe.acrobat.com/frameworksexplorer/
(hopefully it will be recorded so if you cant make it tonight, you can watch it in your own time)

What would you pay for? Should CFEclipse still be free?
April 13, 2007 ·
Before I start, don't worry, I am not going to charge for CFEclipse, but I have been thinking about the costs involved in making CFEclipse and trying to see how I can at least raise a small percentage of those.
To give you an idea of how many developer hours that go into CFEclipse, add up 2-3 man hours a day, every day, for about 6 years (I am using an average of number of developers that have been involved as well as frequency of coding), and lets say, they get paid a fair rate for a Java programmer (about ?40 an hour I think), thats about ?262,800 (thats about $516,402).
Sit back and take that in, Half a million dollars...

cfObjective, MacBook and a PSP!
April 02, 2007 ·
So, some news in sequence, I have booked my hotel for cfObjective as well as the flight! So a big thank you to all that have donated, the money has been well spent on the conference "tour" of the summer.
Project:U is coming along, those on the prerelease should expect a drop sometime later this week.
I am also strangely enough, getting ready the presentation for CFUnited (they have to be in pretty sharpish if I am to go there!) which is also timely as I shall be presenting for the Auckland CFUG this Thursday (at 6:00 am, how is that for dedication to the cause?), I shall post the Connect room URL when I know it.
On other, related, presentation news, I just got my little "Monolith" MacBook that will be coming along with me on tour. I am installing it with BootCamp (partitions can be run from Parallels, I also wanted to give it a test before I add too much stuff to this machine) and Parallels as well as ColdFusion, iWork and CFEclipse. All ready to present I hope!
At the same time I got the MacBook delivered, I got my PSP returned to me! Well, kinda, the PSP was replaced since it wasn't loading UMDs anymore which defeats the point of having a PSP! But alas it is back and I shall be checking it out tonight. Fun Fun Fun!
Plenty of news, more to come this week!

The magic of Instantiations
February 02, 2007 ·
The wonderful guys and gals at Instantiations, the makers of a fantastic development tools for Eclipse plugin developers, have donated a copy of Windowbuilder Pro to the CFeclipse Project
What does this mean? Well, one of the things that *REALLY* slows me down is doing some panels and views in Eclipse, I just want to do it easily and it isn't so, with Windowbuilder Pro I can develop new features a LOT faster, and that really means a lot, since I can only really develop CFEclipse for a few hours at a time.
I really would like to recommend them not only on the kindness of the donation but on the speed that they got back to me. It really shows great service!
